Yep I'm here and its October

Let's start off with the final round of the Met Open.... 81. You can get the full results at www.mgagolf.org. Ok now that that is done I had a few other tournaments since then with some nice results.

The Metropolitan Section had its Championship at the Country Club of Fairfield. I shot rounds of 72-70-69 to finish in a tie for 5th place. What a great golf course in Fairfield, CT. You can get the full results at www.met.pga.com.

We also played the Farley Cup at the Atlantic Golf Club in Long Island. This tournament matches the top 12 Westchester golf professionals against the top 12 from Long Island. This is the 3rd time we have met in the past 3 years and this is the first time that Westchester has lost the match. I had a great match against Mark Brown from the Tam O'Shanter Club. I did get the better of him on this day however winning 3 points of a possible 3 points against him.

Our last event of the season was the Treiber Memorial Tournament of Champions. It is a stableford event which points are given for your score. They are as follows: 0 points for par, 2 points for birdie, 5 points for eagle, -1 point for bogey and -3 points for double bogey or worse. I finished 5th with a total of 10 points for the three rounds. My rounds were 4 points, 10 points and -4 points. The last round was played in the steady wind and rain. Again you can find complete results at www.met.pga.com

Next week I am off to California for the Mayacama Pro-Member with my partner Ned Zachar. After that the GlenArbor Golf Club will play a ryder cup format against the Mayacama Club. This is always a fun 2 events.
One more thing, check out the MET PGA Notebook that aired on SNY. This is a cool TV show talking about things happening in the Metropolitan Section.  Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D08x4aN0aE4&feature=share&list=UUvTv-UrD9rD67aQkKdutlgw.

I am available Wednesday to Sunday for lessons during the winter months. Book now as the time is already filling up. Winter is the best time to keep your golf game in shape for the 2013 season. Until next time....fairways and greens.

Met Open round 2

So we have 2 great golf tournaments going on at the same time in this area. The Met Open and the Barclays which starts today! It just shows how many great events are played up in this area due to the awesome golf courses. I have won the New York State Open at Bethpage Black two times, so I am interested to see how the PGA Tour boys do there this week.

Not to keep harping on the weather here, but it is just perfect! It should be another great scoring day. I shot a round of 70 yesterday and am currently at 7 under par for the event 3 shots back in 3rd place.

97th Metropolitan Open (Met Open)

Plainfield country club is a great course and will be a pleasure to play this week in the 97th Met Open! GlenArbor fielded a team in the pro-am yesterday and my playing partners had the same feeling that I did! We played well shooting 65 gross and 60 net to cash in on some of the prizes. You can follow the action at www.mgagolf.org and www.metopen.org.  I will also be tweeting from the action this week and you can follow that at twitter @rlabritz.

My tee time today is 1pm off hole #10 with Morgan Hoffman and Bob Rittberger. It's a great field this week competing! Talk to you soon.

It's been a while

I know, I know, I have been getting asked about the blog. The golf business just gets a bit crazy sometimes. I have a few things to report. So here we go.....

2012 Professional National Championship - Was a mess! I shot rounds of 79-77 and basically played as poorly as I could! That just happens in this game! Bad timimg on my part since this is such a great event. I now had to qualify for next years event. Go to www.pga.com for the complete results.

Westchester Open - Shot a round of 76 to miss the cut for the first time ever in that event. It was a weird feeling not to be playing in the final 2 rounds. Didnt play that bad, just didn't make as many birdies as I needed to. Go to www.westchestergolf.org for the complete results.

New York State Open - I just love Bethpage Black! As a two-time winner of the event and defending champion my confidence was high going into the event even with my scores as high as they were. I was feeling comfortable with my game and know that it can change in an instant!  I shot rounds of 72-73-70 to tie for 4th. I played the last round with Danny Balin who shot a beautiful 66 and eventually won the tourney. Go to www.met.pga.com for the complete results.

Metropolitan Professional Championship - Truned it around with rounds of 65-69 to win this event by 2 shots over Carl Alexander and John Guyton. It was a solid birdie, birdie, birdie finish as well! This also qualified me for the Professional National Championship in Oregon next June. As all of you know this is the route to the 2013 PGA Championship. Here is a link to the Journal News article www.http://golf.lohudblogs.com/2012/07/25/with-plenty-on-his-mind-rob-labritz-wins-met-professional-championship/ . Go to www.met.pga.com for complete results.

Next up is the Metropolitan Open August 21-23 at Plainfield Country Club in Plainfield, NJ. You can check this event out at www.mgagolf.org. Until next time....which will be sooner than last.....fairways and greens!

US Open Sectional qualifying

It was a close call to be at the Olympic Club this week as I shot rounds of 72-68 to miss qualifying by 2 shots. You can see the results from Canoe Brook at www.mgagolf.org.

I am off to California on June 20 to compete in the National Club Professional Championship at Bayonet and Blackhorse Golf Clubs. This is the qualifying for the PGA Championship as well. The top 20 finishers will qualify. You can follow the action on the Golf Channel live and also at www.PGA.com. The tournament dates are June 24-27. I will be blogging and tweeting all week so look for some cool stuff.

Until then.....fairways and greens!

Polo Metropolitan PGA Head Professional Championship

It was an exciting finish and my heart was pounding but I was able to take the title home with a one stroke edge over Mark Brown of Tam O'Shanter Country Club with a final round of 70. My two day total was three under par 137 at Waccabuc Country Club in Waccabuc, NY. Cory Muller had the lead in the event until a triple bogey 7 on the 16th hole where I was able to make birdie for a four-shot swing. I would like to thank Polo for their sponsorship, the MET PGA for running such great events, Waccabuc Country Club for hosting, Titleist for their supreme equipment and my caddy Todd for a great job on the links. Also to GlenArbor Golf Club, my home away from home. And as always my finace Kerry and son Matthias for all of their love and support! You can see the complete results at www.met.pga.com.

Next up is the sectional US Open qualifying at Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit, New Jersey on Monday June 4th. There are approximately 80 guys for 4 spots to play the US Open at the Olympic Club in June. We will all play 36 holes in one day for the right to earn the birth in the Open.

I will play a practice round today at Canoe Brook. You can follow the US Open qualifying at www.mgagolf.org. Until then..........fairways and greens!

Polo Metropolitan PGA Head Professional Championship

It was a really humid day that reached 90 degrees at Waccabuc Country Club but I was able to overcome a few early round bogeys to shoot 67 and tie for the lead in the two day championship.  The course is a hidden gem in Waccabuc, NY. Met Section legend Darrell Kestner is tied with me at 67. Local US Open qualifier Cory Muller and Carl Alexander are tied for 3rd at 68.

I tee of at 12:39 tomorrow. You can see the full results and follow the action live at www.met.pga.com. Until tomorrow.....fairways and greens!

US Open local qualifying

It was one of the rainiest days that I have ever played in, well at least top five. The Country Club of Darien was in phenomenal shape and played really tough! Only Frank Bensel broke par at 1 under 70. I shot even par 70 with a birdie on the last hole in the driving rain. What a relief! One hundred golfers teed off and 6 qualified for the sectional tournament which leads to a trip to the Olympic Club in June to play in the US Open Championship!

The next stage for me is at Canoe Brook Country Club in New Jersey on June 4th. This round is also 36 holes instead of 18. I am hoping to qualify for my first United States Open Golf Championship. I have missed by a shot a few times for a few close calls but never made it to the event. I sure want 2012 to be different.

Next up is the Metropolitan PGA Head Professional Championship at Waccabuc Counry Club in Waccabuc, NY on May 29th and 30th. Congrats to all the other qualifiers today. You can see the results at www.csgalinks.org. Until next time.....fairways and greens!

Westchester PGA Championship

It started out rainy and foggy. I won my second match in the round of 32 and was defeated in the round of 16 by Jim Wahl, the Head Professional at Whiprowill 1 up. I think he definitely had some local knowledge. It was a good battle. The quarterfinals start today. You can check out the action at www.met.pga.com.

Next up is the US Open Local qualifying at the Country Club of Darien in Darien, CT on May 15th. Until Next time.......fairways and greens.

Westchester PGA Championship

The Metropolitan PGA kicked off today with the Westchester PGA Championship at Whiporwill Country Club in Armonk, NY.  Sixty four PGA Professionals will tee it up to vie for the title in this match play event.

The course conditions are hard and fast as Whiporwill is in fantastic shape. I won my first match and will be playing Kevin Ausserlechner tomorrow at 8:36am. You can follow the live action at www.met.pga.com.  Updates from the players will be available on twitter.

By the way RobLabritz.com has been updated with new videos to help you improve. Until tomorrow....fairways and greens!

Just Perfect

Get out there and play some golf! It is absolutely PERFECT weather! Remember to take your allergy medicines, however, the pollen is here!

Polo RLX has some great spring time gear thats really cool. Don't forget to stretch. When warming up, start out slowly if you haven't played all winter by chipping, pitching and making half swings for the first 30 mins. This is way better for your body.

Look for the results of my tournament calendar starting up soon. Play well and talk soon.

PGA National Stroke Play Championship Rd 3

The Wannamaker was gritting her teeth today as the third round was under way in Pt. St. Lucie. Bob Sowards kept up his solid play and is leading the tournament at 206. I had an up and down round of 73 to enter the final day at even par 216. The wind was swirling which was making club selection difficult and the greens kept their firmness.

My tee time tomorrow is 8:40. You can follow the action at www.pgatournaments.com. Thanks for all of your posts and well wishes.

Until tomorrow.......fairways and greens.

PGA National Stroke Play Championship Rd 2

So second round results.... The wind was down a touch but still blowing. You needed to control the flight. The greens on the Ryder are a little softer from the ones on the Wannamaker which makes scoring a little easier.

I shot 70 and climbed from 31st to 10th at 143. Seventy golfers made the cut which was at 151. Bob Sowards leads the event at 138. My tee time tomorrow is 12:15 on the Wannamaker. You can follow the action at www.pgatournaments.com. How about the finish at Torrey Pines last week?

Til tomorrow......

PGA National Stroke Play Championship

Well hello- I know it has been too long! After a nice December rest, the 2012 tournament season has started. This is also the same week as the PGA Show in Orlando, FL. 174 PGA Professionals from around the country come to the PGA Golf Club in Port Saint Lucie, FL to get compete for the title of the PGA National Stroke Play Champion. Last year Frank Bensel claimed the title. It is played on both the Ryder and Wannamaker courses.

I shot 73 on the Wannamaker course which puts me in a tie for 31st in the 174 player field. There are 4 tied for the lead at 68 with three days left including Mark Brown, Bob Sowards, Rod Perry and Sam Arnold.

The wind was blowing up to 20 MPH and three greens were really firm on the Wannamaker making the course play very difficult. With three days left, it is really anybody's ball game. There will be a cut to the low 70 and ties after tomorrow. Check out the complete results at www.pgatournaments.com.

Look for some blogs in the upcoming weeks with the latest tournament results an some cool things happening in 2012. I am totally looking forward to the 2012 season. And for all of my students, I will be back at GlenArbor this Friday. Until tomorrow......get out there and practice.
